Leka: "As our sales growth shows, our products are tapping into homeowner demand more than ever. As such, they represent a great opportunity for fabricators looking to diversify their revenue streams comments." Managing Director Rhys Hoddinott
Senior's: "The unique construction of the PURe® system and its current ability to meet future U-value targets puts it in a class of its own but we've also worked closely with our supply chain to ensure that as a product, it is still easy to fabricate and install. No special tooling is required, it's competitively priced and as a system, it's incredibly easy to maintain which makes it an ideal long-term investment." said James Keeling-Heane sales director
Garnalex: "There are a number of clever features in Sheerline that seem simple yet have not been addressed previously. The compatibility of the ancillaries is a big positive, as are the thermal breaks. We are still in a very early stage, but we’re confident Classic and Prestige products will slot into our established range perfectly. Sheerline is bringing aluminium up to date in a well thought out and integrated manner. We’re all excited about the journey." Russell Jones, Director of Belvedere Products
CAB: "A lot has been claimed about the benefits of aluminium by CAB and many other associations, but we should also ask: 'Where would we be today without this material?' With a high strength to weight ratio, aluminium is a structural engineering material, without it we would not have the modern airliners of today," Phil Slinger – chief executive
Rapierstar: "Whilst damage in use or 'user error' could account for some of these reported faults, it does suggest one or both of two things -using poor quality hardware or not fitting hardware correctly." says Andy Holland, technical & marketing manager
SWISSPACER: "Our spacer bars are already well known as a warm edge for saving energy in winter. However, they also offer advantages in summer: they keep the heat of summer outside and, as a cool edge, contribute to much less energy having to be used for cooling buildings." says Frank Junker, sales manager
Glass giant celebrates history with new online heritage hubs
Pilkington United Kingdom Limited, part of the NSG Group, is celebrating its history with the creation of a new online heritage hub, ‘The History of Pilkington UK’, in recognition of its rich past in the glass industry.
Historic images chart Pilkington UK’s almost 200-year history at the forefront of glass making and the lives of those who worked there, from the three wealthy founding families, to the apprentices and production line workers.
The hub recognises the seminal contributions of Sir Alistair Pilkington, with his industry-shaping invention of the Float Glass process in 1958; now the world standard for high-quality flat glass manufacture.
The online archive has been created ahead of next year’s 70th anniversary celebration of work beginning on the float process, which also coincides with the UN International Year of Glass. …»
Open letter The importance of margin protection
Mike Parczuk, Managing Director
It’s great that everyone is busy but we face a number of challenges - and I don’t only mean those impacting the supply chain.
The net effect of increased demand and disruption is that the cost of each retail job has gone up. It’s not only that the price increases earlier this summer are now filtering through in the price installers pay for product - but also that disruption adds cost.
We’re working really hard to get things out the door to our customers but we hold our hands up, we aren’t perfect, and sometimes stuff doesn’t get to where it needs to be, when it needs to be there. That could be because we’ve been let down by our suppliers, because we lost drivers to a positive COVID test, or just because something went wrong and we cocked-up!…»
