A Happy and Prosperous New Year to all
I feel a wry smile coming on. Already with just a little more than a week in on what promises to be a fantastic year, some are expressing hesitation about their next move or direction for their company. Why? They want to see what company X does or what new efforts are to come from company Y. They need to know whether company A is going to that show or the other exhibition. Then there is something called the right moment. Really and what do they think those other companies are waiting for? Forgetting of course, that for the most part competitors are never customers
.Hmmm, then the smile? Or is it sadness? I am obviously talking about those charged with creating and driving the 2020 vision (did you see what I did there) for their company in the year ahead. For them waiting is the new vision.
Most growth is lost by forgetting the customer. By chasing others that were already in front of the customer while you were still in bed. By being a follower, also suggests that a leader, a decision maker is required to help you find your way in the world. Thats 2020 vision!
So, the hesitation, I just dont get it. Following others doesn’t say much about the business plan
HEGLA UK Ltd: Customers are actively adapting their business models to gain advantages. With the new Tai Fin brand of furnaces now available from HEGLA, the company is well positioned to support customers with greater options. comments Managing Director Steve Goble
Certass Trade Association: Some really interesting stats came back from this survey and these will drive our initiatives going forward, so that the package we offer to members is relevant and helps them to tackle the problems they face on a day-to-day basis. adds Jon Vanstone
Morley Glass & Glazing: This is a fantastic partnership that delivers a sustainable solution for the whole supply chain. Using one tonne of cullet saves 1.2 tonnes of raw material, including 850 kg of sand; reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 300 kg. said Mike Butterick, Head of Marketing at Saint-Gobain Glass
Jotika (Midlands) Software: We want to be more to our customers than just a software provider. I invited Chris Ball from MBA Associates to work closely with my team, to give us a broader knowledge of business management practices, specifically for manufacture and even more specifically for glass manufacture. Explains Brian Gold MD
Exlabesa UK: The Xlafold aluminium bifolding door has become a classic solution because it offers everything homeowners, architects, specifiers, fabricators and installers want from a bifolding door. said General Manager Paul Benn
Pilkington: In any building that has large areas of glass, there will always be a risk of excessive heat build-up, which can result in either an uncomfortable environment for occupants or high running costs and poor environmental performance if high levels of air-conditioning are used. continued Michael Metcalfe, national sales manager - UK processing
Letter to the Editor - Mandatory changes to EN 1279 from March 19th 2020 - Wayne Rogerson
Dear Ian
Mandatory changes to EN 1279 from March 19th 2020
Our industry could be forgiven for being distracted with the countless economic and political challenges that were thrown our way in 2019, but in 2020 we have a new and very specific challenge to face, and we need to prepare quickly to ensure continued compliance.
The standard for the manufacture of Double-Glazed Sealed Units (IGU’s) has been amended. It is currently in transition and becomes mandatory on the 19th March 2020....more
Yours sincerely,
Wayne Rogerson, CENSolutions Joint MD
