The ONS reports wage growth at its highest since 2002 with 31.9 million people in work which is 42K more than in February. ONS also reports that Construction Industry output has fallen, when the economists had predicted it would grow. There are now calls for stamp duty to be reduced to help the market. The buy-to-let market is growing and pushing up house prices while the UK house builders announce record growth and profits.
98% of the construction industry workers admit to maintaining their wages using what in some quarters is called ‘private work’ – there’s a surprise.
The RAC predicts the UK to run out of diesel fuel… in 2030. Horse and cart deliveries?
The general media is reporting (as if it’s a problem) that a political grouping of the left, funded by organisations that have left leanings, has anointed a left facing leader.
The world yawns and moves on.

Adding up what’s news
At the Fenestration News we have been carrying out an internal audit as a way of assessing our next evolution, as such it throws up some interesting facts, figures, trends and also some quirks.
The Fenestration News has been delivering the news to the industry’s desktops on a daily basis for quite a while now. Yes, using the internet before many realised it even existed. Back in those early days it was a desktop machine that was the recipient, now around 30% of the news finishes up on a device. Back in the day the telephone was still a telephone and used by people for talking to others. A device then had a generic meaning for other things.
News topics of the day included how BS 8213 was amended to take into account of the liability for people falling out of windows being passed to property owners and installers.
Fire and security performance on doors was being upgraded. Glass Charter Awards were handed to companies that showed outstanding commitment to health and safety.
Inline patios made the news for being innovative. However, the big debate was who should be liable for the ‘pinking’ associated with pvc frames.
Since 2004 the Fenestration News has created a library of some 17,000 news items from 790 companies all still available, which are not only used to feed our own dedicated websites, but through our news-feeds to help others spread the word.
